The Presenter:

Sofie Stergianis is a private adoption practitioner who has worked in the adoption field since 1983. She has a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Social Work. Sofie started her career as a birth parent counsellor and for the past number of years has been working with adoptive parents completing homestudies and providing pre and post placement services. Sofie specializes in international adoption. She has toured orphanages in Romania, has been an active Board member of a number of adoption organizations, and has been a guest speaker at a number of adoption seminars and workshops. Sofie is the co-author of the recently published children’s adoption book entitled “What is Adoption? Helping non-adopted children understand adoption”. As well, Sofie and her husband are parents through adoption.
